Kanye West has announced full details for his first tour in three years. The tour, which was announced yesterday, has today been extended with plans for a further 5 shows revealed today. The much-anticipated tour will kick off in Indianapolis on August 25th and will hit almost 40 cities across the United States and Canada.
Included in the tour dates are 2 nights in Madison Square Garden, New York, where Kanye launched The Life of Pablo album back in February of this year, 2 nights in his hometown of Chicago and 2 nights in L.A. The tour will see the first large-scale performances of material from The Life of Pablo album, Kanye’s seventh album, which made history by being the first album to enter at the top of the Billboard chart based solely on streaming. The Life of Pablo is only available digitally and has seen a number of edits since it was released on the music streaming site Tidal. West, who has an interest in the co-owned streaming website alongside a coalition of other musicians, earlier this year asked fans to subscribe to the site so that he could “bring his beautiful ideas to the world”.
Now that his album has been shared, quite extensively, as it happens, it’s finally time for Kanye to bring it directly to the people. Last week the musician caused quite a stir in New York City when over 4,000 people showed up at a venue with a capacity of just 1,500 for a pop-up show. The impromptu gig was planned when West’s performance at New York Governor’s Ball on Sunday was cancelled due to severe weather conditions. The secret show was due to begin at 2am in Webster Hall but just before that time the venue announced that it would not be able to go ahead. The many disappointed fans will be delighted at the news that they can now get to see him perform in more suitable venues across the country.
West artist has commented that he is aiming to ‘literally inspire these kids the way Disney inspired me when I first saw the original Star Wars’. That’s a big aim, but Kanye West has never been one to shy away from big plans. Alongside his music career, West has a fashion label Yeezy and plans to run for the U.S. presidency in the next election.
The tickets for Kanye West’s Saint Pablo tour will go on general release on Friday morning, the 17th of June via LiveNation, with TIDAL members getting presale tickets from tomorrow at 10 am. The full tour schedule can be seen at
